The Bastide de Préville, located in Apt, in the heart of the Luberon’s Regional Natural park, is the ideal starting point for exploring the region’s rich and unusual cultural heritage and tourist sites: Gordes, Lourmarin, Ansouis, Ménerbes (classified as France’s Most Beautiful Villages), natural, imposing sites such as the ochre cliffs of Roussillon, Rustrel – The Provence Colorado – the Bruoux cliffs, the Nesque gorges, Mont-Ventoux etc.
The Vaucluse region is also about vineyards, fruits, vegetables, olives and lavender. To this list we can also add a few age-old flavours such as candied fruit, nougat, aromatic plants, saffron and the jewel in the crown: truffles.
You’ll find all of these items on sale in Provence’s markets. Apt market has been running since the Middle Ages. It’s listed as an “Exceptional Market” on account of its atmosphere and the high-quality produce on sale.
