Autumn in the heart of the Vaucluse vineyards
To see the grapevines in autumn … it’s an delight. The leaves gradually transition from the colour of molten gold to a flamboyant red, and nature is resplendent. To make the most of this ever-changing spectacle, new ways to explore have emerged from the heart of the vineyards. Electric bikes, horse riding, 4 X 4s, Volkswagen Combis, or even buggies – there is something for everyone, and we have tested them for you 🙂
Sensiry bike ride
Ready for an easy escape to Ventoux, where the renowned AOC (protected designation of origin) wines flourish?
We met at 9am at the Terra Ventoux wine cellar in Villes-sur-Auzon to explore the vineyard by electric bike. After a warm welcome, we set off along the slopes of the Blauvac hillsides. Fluttering in the breeze of the mistral and bathed in sunlight, the vines shape the landscape. And it was there that we realised that there is no better way to access the hilltops and villages than by electric bike. It’s incredible! You don’t need to be a great athlete to navigate the stony paths and the narrow roads of the valleys. The electric assistance lets you go crazy! The trip lasts 2 hours and is an absolute joy. The wine tasting at the end of the ride concluded the day’s delights.

Focus on
For us, the next trip will be that of the “5 terroirs”, which includes a picnic of local products at the heart of the vineyard and an opportunity to sample the very special variety of wine.

Crossing the vineyard in a 4×4
With Rhonea in Beaumes de Venice
Here we are with the wind in our hair, in the Rhonea 4 X 4 in the middle of the vineyards at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail. It’s splendid! In an arid landscape scented with the fragrances of the garrigue, the vines and the olive trees, you are gently tossed about on the stony paths of the terrain. At every turn you can catch a glimpse of the villages clinging to their rocky peak. La Roque-Alric, Lafare, Suzette, Beaumes de Venise… all watch over their vineyard. They wouldn’t leave their place for the world. Neither would we!

Travel across the plot by Buggy
With the winemakers of mount Ventoux in Bedoin
Be like us and swap your car for a buggy, a little vehicle which is much more fun, for a ride with the winemakers of mount Ventoux. Manoeuvrable and easy to drive, we enjoyed exploring the land of mount Ventoux without effort. The guide showed us the way and at each stage we could listen to nature and explore the protected vineyard. A great experience 🙂

In a vintage volkswagen Combi or Beetle
With Le Domaine de la Tourade in Gigondas
A hippie chic picnic in the vineyards with the Volkswagen Combi, still the ladybug of the Domaine de la Tourade! If you are a tad nostalgic for the 70s then this trip is for you. Imagine a vehicle straight out of a road trip with the music of the era. A passionate wine-grower has prepared a programme lasting for more than an hour for you on the land of the famous Gigondas vineyard. We travelled across the plots of Gigondas and admired the Dentelles de Montmirail whilst listening to our guide tell us the story of the estate. And, most importantly, we tasted the wines at the heart of the vineyard!
