This admirable mountain (Mons mirabilis) lives up to its name; it can be seen from afar like a majestic piece of stone lacework, a real sculpture rising to a height of 755 m. It is the first outcrop of the Alps in the Rhone Valley, but – make no mistake – the vegetation there is typically Mediterranean, a kingdom of aromatic plants, evergreen oaks and Aleppo pines. The vines planted on its slopes produce prestigious vintages nowadays.
