In August 2021 On the first weekend in August each year, Valréas celebrates the famous lavender flower which spreads its fragrance throughout Provence.
A beautiful lavender parade with lavender-bedecked floats fills the streets of Valréas, accompanied by Provencal folk music and dance groups and musicians. A joyous parade!
The town of Valréas in the Papal Enclave which lies just outside of Vaucluse county, in Drôme provençale, has the ideal climate for growing lavender. One of the road routes for following the "Lavender Routes" goes right through the Valréas area.
