Avignon
Unreasonable reasoning
From 18/04 to 27/06/2026 on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 2 pm and 6 pm.
Event in Avignon :
Dedicated to Julien Prévieux, a major figure on the contemporary art scene, the exhibition highlights the issues, flaws and absurdities of a world controlled by "intelligent" machines. Videos - Sculptures - Drawings - Installations.
The exhibition Des raisonnements déraisonnables examines language systems as structures of power and regulation of human behavior. Julien Prévieux explores this question through two fields of application: spatial activities on the one hand, and artificial intelligence on the other.
The exhibition features a selection of the artist's seminal works, as well as a series of new creations produced specifically for the show. The latter, focusing on the dysfunctions and invisible processes of artificial intelligences, take a particular interest in the hallucinations produced by AIs.
What all the works have in common is a questioning of machine control, its possible flaws and the absurdity engendered by this profusion of digital languages.
# Julien Prévieux
A key figure on the contemporary art scene (winner of the 2014 Prix Marcel Duchamp), Julien Prévieux's multidisciplinary practice is driven by a playful vision of social criticism. His work is regularly exhibited in art centers and museums in France and abroad, and features prominently in public and private collections.
A keen observer of the contemporary world and our behaviors, the artist is particularly interested in the impact of technological revolutions on our societies and their hold on individual and collective bodies. His practice combines the visual arts, performance art, computer science, artificial intelligence and choreography.
