Prometheus

With *Prometheus*, Martin Harriague continues his exploration of transgressive figures who defy the gods and societal norms. Following his production inspired by Donald J. Trump, he now turns to the figure who dared to steal fire from the gods to give it to mankind—an act of rebellion and generosity punished with eternal suffering. Beyond the ancient myth, this play examines what it means to “steal fire” today: in a world where humans arrogate to themselves the power to control and destroy, Prometheus, for his part, does not steal the flame to annihilate, but to offer humanity the very source of knowledge, life, and… love.
At the heart of this production is Ludwig van Beethoven’s *The Creatures of Prometheus*, the composer’s only ballet. Fabien Cali, in residence with the Orchestra, enriches Beethoven’s score with a contemporary dimension, extending the dialogue between music and movement, between heritage and invention.

For Martin Harriague, the intimate relationship between movement and sound is his true signature: dance does not follow the music—it is music. The bodies translate the notes and reveal what we hear. The choreography blends powerful ensemble pieces, sensitive duets, and virtuosic solos. Here we find the explosive and precise style that defines the choreographer’s uniqueness.
Thus, *Prometheus* asserts itself as a complete work—musical, choreographic, and mythical—whose revival builds on the momentum of its already resounding success.
