ONAP season opening concert

The youngest winner of the 1997 Paganini Competition in Italy, violinist Kyoko Yonemoto takes us on a journey to Bohemian and Gypsy lands with Maurice Ravel's klezmer Tzigane and an impressive medley of cult themes from Bizet's opera Carmen-Fantaisie by 19th-century violin star Pablo de Sarasate. Under the direction of Federico Santi, associate conductor of Opéra Grand Avignon, the orchestra also lifts us to other skies in Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara's celestial and modern Adagio, Claude Debussy's ancient and dreamy Prélude à l'après midi d'un faune and Francis Poulenc's Sinfonietta, a small symphony with all the makings of a big one!
