At the heart of the Côtes du Rhône region, the town of Jonquières never ceases to attract enthusiasts for ecological tourism and everyone who delights in authenticity, proximity and conviviality.
The small town has preserved the soul of a village and cultivates the art of Provençal living that was so dear to Marcel Pagnol.

On the route to Mont Ventoux, the lord of Provence and a mythical destination for cyclists, the town of Jonquieres welcomes more and more cycling tourists each year, who come to make the most of the Via Venaissia, the epitome of a Green Way, with its magnificent landscapes and panoramas. More than just a label, "LA PROVENCE A VÉLO" (“Cycling in Provence”) is a daily experience in Jonquières.

Each year, the town organises trails for visitors called “vélo vigne” (“vineyard cycling”). This is an original concept, introducing visitors to great landscapes, an extraordinary wine region and to the men and women whose winemaking talents are celebrated throughout the world.

A famous olive oil mill, a top-level horse-riding club, a very popular, shaded campsite alongside the magnificent municipal swimming pool with its three pools, are some of the attractions of Jonquières, a Provençal town where the inhabitants are very much attached to its culture and history.

Each year, on the third Sunday in May, Jonquières pays homage to regional culture in an event whose fame has now spread beyond Vaucluse: LA JOURNÉE PROVENÇALE. The highlight of “The Provençal Day” is the transhumance with over 2,000 sheep passing through the streets, as well as a whole host of activities, exhibitions and street theatre!

A particularly dense and varied cultural programme associated with the dynamism of association life have made Jonquières a particularly attractive town where people love living.

Jonquières also stands out because of its renowned artists and craftspeople, including metal workers, cabinetmakers and carpenters.

Lastly, you shouldn’t miss a visit to the Arboretum, a protected site, bringing together 35 species of plants to maintain the balance of the ecosystem. The pathway through it is accessible to people with reduced mobility and provides an exceptional experience, accessible to all: yet another attraction for Jonquières, "the green town"!

Also well worth visiting:
The parish church, dating from 1137
The four Châteaux: Beauregard – Pecoulette – Causans – Malijay
