Tourist service in Mormoiron :
Ancient fortified village built on a limestone hill in the Middle Ages, Mormoiron owes its distinctive character to its winding streets, traditional Provençal soustets (covered passageways) and unique geological features.
The village boasts a rich architectural heritage with remnants from the medieval era : the old hospital, six fountains, washhouses, rural chapels, the Saint Laurent Church and its ramparts and watchtowers.
The museum presents the geology, paleontology, and archaeology of Mormoiron. It explores the history of its ochres, gypsum, silica sands, clays and gravel, illustrating their extraction with photographs. A 360° virtual tour is available.

Its yellow and red soils dotted with Scots pines also define its uniqueness, with soils rich in gypsum, silica sand and ochre. The exploitation of its quarries peaked in the 19th century before eventually coming to an end.
Walking trails allow you to explore the ochre-rich land starting from the Lac des Salettes. This artificial lake, spanning over 2 hectares and featuring a fine sandy beach, is ideal for swimming. It is classified as Category 2 for fishing and is particularly abundant in black bass.
