Le Barroux is a lovely medieval village perched atop a rocky spur, located between Carpentras and Malaucene. Its high position provides panoramic views over Mont Ventoux, the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Comtat plains. A 16th century Renaissance château, built adjoining a 12th century dungeon crowns the village of Le Barroux. The ensemble is a striking mixture of château fort and rich palace. From the castle's terraces there are lovely views of the village rooftops and the church tower. Many lovely homes line the narrow winding streets. Be sure to see: Le château (guided tours from April to October); Saint Jean-Baptiste church; the vestiges of a 19th century aqueduct; the Abbey Sainte-Madeleine du Barroux, built in 1978; Llama farm.
