Chapelle Notre-Dame du Groseau
Tourist service in Malaucène :
Set in a beautiful country setting, near a spring. This chapel stands in silent testimony to the Papal period in Vaucluse.
In the 14th century, this set of buildings was the very heart of a Palace where Pope Clement V came to stay. These two adjoining buildings date from the 12th century and are now registered historical monuments. The two 12th-century buildings which are connected - Saint-John the Baptist Chapel and Notre-Dame Chapel, both of which have rich interior sculpted decoration. The carved Roman stones re-used here testify to the ancient occupation of this site. Open for group visits - please book ahead by calling the COVE Culture Department in Carpentras at 04 90 64 10 13.
