The château which overlooks the village of Gordes, listed as one of the "Plus Beaux Villages de France", is now a cultural space, welcoming huge summer exhibitions.
This château, which dates back to 1031, was rebuilt in 1525. The well-preserved and carefully restored building combines architecture from the troubled Middles Ages and the Renaissance era. The monumental fireplace that decorates the Hall of Honour was classified a "Monument Historique" in 1902, followed by the rest of the château in 1931.
