A visit to this UNESCO World Heritage site provides a wonderful introduction to the history of the city. The story of the bridge is closely linked to the life of the Papacy during the Middle Ages; it was part of the pilgrimage route between Spain and Italy, a control centre for waterway traffic and toll bridge … until it’s demolition during the 17th century.Touchscreen tablets in French and English offer a lively guided tour of the monument, taking you through its chequered history.

Due to the Handi-Pont raid, the monument will be exceptionally closed to the public on Friday June 6 from 1pm to 3pm.

From 19/12 to 31/12/2026 daily between 10 am and 6 pm.

Free ticket (proof will be required at ticket check-in): for children under 8, holders of a Carte mobilité inclusion invalidité (CMI) and an accompanying adult (proof of age is required), for residents of Avignon and Montfavet every Sunday, on presentation of proof of address and ID (please note that ID is not a proof of age), for curator-guides, journalists, holders of a France Travail card (jobseekers + RSA beneficiaries) and Avignon residents under the age of 26 who hold a pass culture card issued by Avignon town hall.
