It's a place entirely entirely devoted to vegetables and their journey from seed to dinner plate. Did you know that Vaucluse is the 2nd biggest fruit-producing department in France, and the 4th biggest producer of vegetables?!
Epicurium is a fun, educational space entirely devoted to fruit and vegetables, tracing their journey from a seed to our dinner table. The exhibition is arranged thematically, leading visitors on a sensory, interactive journey, exploring different areas: seasonal fruit and vegetables, geographical origins, botanical characteristics and nutritional value. Videos and interactive devices for children are dotted throughout this section.The exhibition then looks at vegetable gardens and orchards, exploring a variety of old and new fruit and vegetables, and some original, little known, edible plants.A number of free events, such as a visit to a transparent bee-hive or a gourmet introduction to the vegetable garden are available, depending on the season. There’s also a short children’s quiz, distributed at entrance, to help your little ones explore the museum.
Epicurium has devised a programme of activities for adults and children alike, that changes according to the season:
-"Epicurieux" workshops for children during school holidays (cooking, gardening, artistic workshops etc.)
-Cookery classes for adults led by renowned regional chefs
-Conferences and opportunities to meet farmers and growers-Festive, seasonal events.
