Cadenet
Olive oil tasting and guided tour of the mill at La Bastide du Laval
Activity in Cadenet :
The tour begins by exploring the typical Provencal landscape, the olive groves of the southern Luberon, and ends at the mill of the prestigious Bastide du Laval.
La Bastide du Laval is, above all, a family-run estate. In 1998, Carine and Roland Coupat decided to return to France after living in the United States for around fifteen years. They fell in love with a wine estate in the village of Cadenet, home to an 18th-century country house set beside a stream called the Laval. Keen to develop an activity closely connected to the land, the couple planted olive trees and trained in olive growing. Nearly twenty years later, the grove now boasts 4,000 olive trees.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed in the shop and introduced to the history of the estate. You will then enjoy a guided tour of the mill, where you will learn about the extraction methods and machinery used to produce the oil. To round off the visit, you will taste the different ranges of olive oils made at La Bastide du Laval, along with the estate’s wines and other products.
Their production includes a broad selection of twelve olive oils, some of which are certified organic, offering a wealth of flavours to discover.
These oils have received numerous awards in France and abroad and are used by renowned chefs such as Michel and César Troisgros, as well as Fabrice Desvignes from the kitchens of the Élysée Palace.
By the end of the tour, olive oil will hold no secrets for you!
