L'Epicerie de Ginette
Restaurant in Avignon :
Ginette et Marcel has changed names and is now called l’Épicerie de Ginette. The concept hasn't changed a bit and it's still the greatest place to go for good old-fashioned tartines in a sweet vintage atmosphere that reflects the setting of a French bistro in the 1940's and '50's. Outdoor seating in nice weather.
Every detail of the vintage deco has been thought of, from floor to ceiling, from the countertop to period ads on the walls. The sidewalk café seating is near the beautiful fountain on the square Place des Corps-Saints.
The menu features tartines: big slices of lovely bread, slightly golden, spread wtih generous, tasty ingredients. Warm or cold tartines, as you like. A few examples: fresh goat cheese with thyme; marinated anchovies; tomato and garlic; Brie de Meaux, walnuts and acacia honey; Fourme d'Ambert and prunes; 3 cheeses and pear... with green salad, just perfect.
New! We also serve home-made burgers!
You can share boards of charcuterie or cheese while making up your mind.
For dessert, verrines, cakes and pies - all delicious. During the afternoon it's a great place to come have tea (Mariage Frères) or a bowl of chicory Leroux. You can also order take-out and bring our cuisine home with you.
The Épicerie de Ginette is spreading its concept and its tartines elsewhere in France, in Lyon, Rennes and Nantes.
