A village rich in history and natural springs, Pernes les Fontaines combines all the charms of Provençal life. Water springs from 40 fountains within its ancient ramparts. The region's famous Mistral wind blows down its narrow winding streets flanked by pretty, colourful houses. This village steeped in tradition is a hotspot for applied arts and crafts, as well as local delicacies, which are all on display at the Christmas market.
Over the festive season, local folklore society Les Folklories organises a traditional Provençal Christmas Market where people can source the ingredients and decorations needed to prepare the customary Christmas dinner with its ritual thirteen desserts.
As usual, there will be seasonal entertainments including folk dancing, horse-drawn carriage rides, and carol-singing.
Events centre round the covered market in the Place du Cormoran and the square in front of Notre Dame de Nazareth church.
