"From the end of November to the start of February, come discover the traditional Provence Christmas cribs on different sites in Pernes and Les Valayans. In Provence, more than elsewhere, the crib is the symbol of the nativity, with its small clay figurines and minuscule ""masets"" imitating the drystone farmhouses and moss hills of Provence. Every year in November, local families and individuals start preparing the sites for the cribs that will be host to the ""santons"" (figurines of the nativity characters)."
