Tourist service in Avignon :
The theatre Théâtre des Halles - is an Avignon institution, in the heart of the city, part of the former cloister of Sainte-Claire dating from the 14th century. Historians think this is where Petrarch first met Laure de Noves. The cloister was turned into a theatre in the early 1980's.
Since 1984, the Théâtre des Halles has hosted and worked with artistic adventures throughout the year. It works with companies and directors and has developed a strong connection with its audiences and great loyalty with the artists. Audiences are wide and highly diverse.
Alain Timar, the director, is also a playwright whose work has been performed in France and abroad.
