Fabrik Théâtre

For years this was a garage where automobiles were repaired. Then came the artists who set up here. And opened the theatre “Le Théâtre du Graal”. And that's how the mechanical workshop where cars were repaired became a big warehouse where we work on souls.

Thus a new venue for Culture was born in Avignon.

Then, in 1997, other artists, circus saltimbanques, actors and actresses, visual performers, dancers and musicians from Théâtre du Kronope, banished from other places due to intolérance, also flocked to this providential space. Workers and artists, they named it the “Fabrik’Théâtre” and this space transformed from an Industrial Wasteland into an Artistic studio.

Where talk revolves around culture and ethics, principles...

The cultural ideas that slowly took root here spoke often of interdisciplinarity and support for artistic production. Thus, since 1997 the Fabrik’Théâtre has become an alternative space for expression and culture, with active backing for the production of live shows.

And we do not mince words...

With each month, and each passing year, we do more and try more. Fabrik’Théâtre continues to try, through artists in residence, through meetings, programming, and exchange between diverse artistic expressions and creations, to propel the process and dynamics of creation.

Indeed, this attitude, ever more assertive, aims to reinject the time for relations and exchange with and between the audiences,the public, the professionals, the neighbourhood, the city and remote galaxies.

We seek for each commitment made in our area of work to become the opportunity to talk about society, about human nature and its constant quest and questioning. That is what we mean by, as some say, an "alternative approach". We prefer the term "citizens' approach" for it requires that we be there, present and involved in the society we belong to.
