For centuries laundries were a place of sociability for women. With the arrival of washing machines in homes, wash houses were abandoned. The washing can be downtown or near the village near a fountain or a river. It generally consists of rinsing tank with washing plan and threshing and wash basin with the bar to ask the machine. We can discover three laundries in Lauris. The first is located in the city center in the street under the Campanes in the church and was built on the old cemetery that is found on the cadastral map of 1731. It is registered in the monument since 1989 and dates from the nineteenth century. The second is in the village street of good fountain. It is marked "reserved for patients". It is typical of the region. And finally, the third is the Cime outside the village. This is certainly the most beautiful.
