The tower was entirely renovated in 2006 after fourteen years of period work. This square 20-meter tower actually has no connection to the Order of the Knights Templar. It stands in the middle of the town and is a vestige of the Château Vieux. It was probably built int he 11th or 12th century and was reworked in the 13th and 14th centuries. Two stories were added, and crenelation was added.

According the Archaeological department for Vaucluse, the tower is one of the only remaining vestiges of an old castle (castrum) which held many wings, outbuildings and a chapel. It is likelly that the D’Ancézune family, Lord of Entraigues in the 12th century, started construction in the 12th century or early 13th century. The rooms in the tower are too narrow to have been used as a lord's dwelling. The tower may have been solely for defence in the case of attack, or used to store grain taken from the farmers.
The tower can be visited, and has beautiful views over Mont Ventoux, the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Monts de Vaucluse.
