This Museum is the Fine Arts Museum for Avignon, with paintings, sculpture and works of art from the 15th to the 20th centuries, in a beautiful 18th century mansion which has gradually been totally restored.
Open daily (except Tuesdays) 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Closed only on: Jan. 1; May 1 and Dec. 25.
The building and the collections make this one of the most poetic and history-filled places in Avignon. Three new rooms opened in December 2007. They display the Avignon School, with a panorama of artistic creation in Avignon from the Renaissance to the French revolution. Paintings, sculptures and art objects express the rich density of this production in the 16th and 17th centuries, with works by Simon de Châlons, Nicolas Mignard, Reynaud Levieux and Pierre Mignard. Also works from the 17th and early 18th centuries.Free for children under 12 and schoolars.
