Climb on board for a journey through time in Provence and discover the secrets, enigmas and legends that abound on the subject of the street Rue des Teinturiers. The street was registered as a historic site in 1932. It is fun and interesting to explore this famous street together, and see the water wheels on the Sorgue river that flows aboveground here, touching on the subjects of water use, a longstanding economic and geopolitical issue in Provence, famlily life and local trade (the street was home to thriving dye industry) and related trades such as tanners and indienneurs.

The street is in the heart of Avignon and is very lively during the Festival, shaded by the plane trees and full of sidewalk cafés and restaurants.

Rue des Teinturiers was also home to celebratedd people such as the entomologist Jean-Henri Fabre, business magnate Jules-François Pernod, the famous poet Petrarch and his beloved Laure...
