In winter 2019, the town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Campredon Art Centre are displaying an exhibition devoted to the artist Pierre Sgamma.
From 26th October 2019 to 16th February 2020: "Adsum" exhibition featuring Pierre Sgamma.
The exhibition displays a vast overview of the last 5 years of his works, born out of 20 years of research, discoveries, failures, joys, doubts, curiosities, and meetings etc.
The artist's extremely personal universe, as strange as it is enigmatic, brings us on a journey of myths and legends with symbolism, metaphors and poetry - like an odyssey into his mind.
Keeping his work original and relevant, he explores paradoxes and opposites, human emotions, fears and flaws as well as resources.
He brings up incongruities in order to shake our general state of consciousness and stereotypes, in order to lead us to free ourselves from the possibilities. Meeting the taxidermist Jacques Gilbert gave a new dimension to his work. He uses animals to question human condition and explore our constant duality.
The creation of monumental sculptures forms an unusual yet captivating atmosphere. The artist’s universe, combined with the work of a craftsman, immerses the visitor in fascinating stories, myths and legends.
