Cavaillon, in the Luberon, marks the start of the Vaucluse section of the tour, after which it heads for Gordes before setting its sights on Mont Ventoux and the ascent of its southern slope! Many of the cyclists are very familiar with this route which starts out at Bedoin and continues towards the summit. It’s a 20.8 km climb with a 7,5% slope and a vertical gain of 1,610 metres. This is an eagerly awaited event. The route snakes through the forest then, at a certain altitude, the vegetation completely disappears. Riders follow a route of straight lines and bends, through a lunar landscape, bleached by the sun. The sight of the Tour is a wonderful spectacle as too is the view provided by Provence’s unique scenery. You’ll find all necessary information about the stage and how to organize your visit on: http://www.etape-ventoux.com/
