The great Provençal nativity scene at the Tourist Office
From 1st December to 31st January, Monday to Sunday from 9.30am-12.30pm and from 2-6pm. This is a work that embodies great artistry, traditional know-how, passion, collective memory and the history of Provence; in sum, all the necessary ingredients to charm visitors.
This giant nativity scene recreates a traditional Provençal village with its small houses, shops, inhabitants, church, and town hall, against the rural backdrop of garrigue and forests; you can see the washerwoman en route to the washhouse, the miller with his donkey, the three main characters, Lou Ravi, Mireille and Vincent, as well as the shepherd and his flock. This band of tiny people are all excitedly awaiting the arrival of baby Jesus. Every year, the nativity scene is created by figurine craftsmen Alain FAVIER and Gérald ROUX on a different theme.
