Medieval celebration, Celebrating the Spelt Crop
A convivial atmosphere reigns as the village of Monieux celebrates this ancient cereal that grows on the Sault plateau, which is better known for its lavender fields. Come and meet spelt growers in the enchanting little village of Monieux.
Spelt from Haute Provence is a true ancestor to modern wheat and grain, and it has been grown on the Sault plateau for over 9,000 years. Spelt has been making a comeback among chefs and on our dinner tables.
The day is entirely dedicated to delicious food, with a market of local terroir products, cookery demonstrations by top chefs, a drinks buffet and a cookery contest.
Visitors also enjoy musical accompaniment throughout the day.
