50 years of painting - I am what I paint
125 oils, watercolors, drawings - 150 sketchbooks.
This year, the Vouland Museum reveals the work both singular and multifaceted of the artist Jean-Claude Imbert (1919-1993) to celebrate the centenary of his birth. His artwork mixes the carnal and the spiritual, the visible and the invisible, light and darkness, Provence and stormy weather, generosity and austerity.
Born under the astrological sign of the Libra, a father of 8 children, a prolific artist and charismatic teacher, Jean-Claude Imbert was always in search of balance. Day after day, he played relentlessly with words, graphic design, the colour black, or watercolors saturated with pigments. He spread and sculpted thick layers of paint to capture shape and light on the canvas. What mysteries lie in the tormented layerinfs of his paintings?
For all audiences.
