The major heritage event of the year! Monuments, museums and churches in Avignon are open to the public. Entrance is free or discounted for private museums and venues.
The idea of Heritage Days saw the light in 1984, created by the French Ministry for Culture.
Today, Heritage Days are celebrated throughout Europe on the third weekend in September. This European Heritage weekend is the cultural event of the early Fall and is the perfect occasion to discover or re-discover the historical heritage in one’s own town or anywhere else in France and Europe. The City of Avignon has prepared a complete programme of events, working with the cultural leaders in the heritage field. See the programme at the Avignon Tourism Office or on the Avignon Tourism Office site (Ville d'Avignon www.avignon.fr)
