Cellist Henri Demarquette performs his interpretation of three of the six famous Suites by Johann Sebastian Bach.
These Suites were long in the shadows before becoming the great classics of the modern-day cello repertory they are seen as today, thanks to Pablo Casals who fell in love with them when still quite young.
Henri Demarquette began his studies at the Paris National Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique at the age of 13. He studied with Philippe Muller and Maurice Gendron, and was unanimously awarded the Premier Prix. He also worked with Pierre Fournier and Paul Tortelier, then in Bloomington (United States with Janos Starker.
Henri Demarquette's career has taken him to many capital cities around the world, working with the greatest conductors, and in the company of outstanding pianists such as Boris Berezovsky, Michel Dalberto, Jean-Bernard Pommier…
