This car trip takes you through the loveliest olive-growing landscapes around Mont Ventoux. You go along the southern foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail, through magnificent olive groves, some of which are over a century old. The vineyards in the Comtat Venaissin are at your feet. The road takes you through the hills which lead to Le Barroux, a rounded, soft landscape full of vineyards, cherry orchards and olive groves. The country roads take you through the heart of the wine-growing area on the hills in the Dentelles de Montmirail.
19 kilometer circuit. Driving time with no stops: 45 mn. Leave Beaumes de Venise in the direction of Caromb (D21). As you leave the village of St-Hippolyte le Graveyron, take a left after the cemetery, follow the "Chemin de Barianne" for 900m. Olive groves all along. Take a left in the direction of Le Barrroux (D78). As you enter the village, take the first street on the left, "Chemin "Carre", then the direction of La Roque Alric (D90A). The perched village is in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Then go down towards Lafare to go back to Beaumes de Venise on the D90.
Walk through the vineyards and olive trees in the heart of the southern slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail. This piedmont landscape has an eye on the surrounding plains, planted with vineyards, landscapes known as the "Terrasses du Comtat" (see the Caromb itinerary) and an eye on the peaks, known as the "dragon's back" in the Dentelles de Montmirail.
