Wines and vineyards /

The appellations and discovery itineraries through the vineyards

Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Ventoux, Côtes du Luberon, 3 wines of the south of France – three appellations which cover the growing areas in Vaucluse. The vineyards grow on a wide range of terroirs, in highly varying soils and climates which produce rich and varied wines. The Rhone Valley stretches from Avignon to the northern Rhone vineyards, passing at the foot of Châteauneuf du Pape and the slopes on the Dentelles de Montmirail.;

Majestic Mont Ventoux stands guard over the vineyards whose appellation is named after the famous mountain.

The Luberon offers the very poetry of its hills and light to its appellation. The touring itineraries through the vineyards and the vintner walking paths lead to in-depth discovery of a land, the men, the landscapes and the villages. A great way to visit Vaucluse.

AOC Côtes du Rhône

An appellation known the world over. Avignon is the capital city of the Côtes du Rhône wines. In Vaucluse, the Côtes du Rhône vineyards are the biggest producers of AOC wines. The Côtes du Rhône appellation breaks down into regional Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages: Cairanne, Rasteau, Roaix, Sablet, Séguret, Valréas, Visan, Plan de Dieu, Massif d’Uchaux and Puyméras. 4 crus: Beaumes de Venise, Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras and 2 natural sweet wines – the AOC Muscat Beaumes de Venise and the AOC Rasteau.

Itineraries and vintner walking trails in the Côtes du Rhône vineyards

Itineraries and vintner walking trails in the Côtes du Rhône vineyards

There are nine different wine roads through the Côtes du Rhône growing area. Four of the roads go through the vineyards Vaucluse. Each of the nine wine roads is identified by a color, and the 4 Vaucluse wine roads are the azure road, sepia road, indigo road and turquoise road. Along the way, the roads identify the sights to be seen, great places to sleep and dine, and of course the wine cellars open for visits. A brochure is available in the tasting cellars and at the Avignon Tourism Office (3€)
