Vaucluse and decoration...

Our homes are the setting for our lifestyle. In the garden – ceramic pots overflowing with flowers. Here in Provence, this could mean Roman pots – for the pottery tradition here goes back to Roman times. Stoneworkers and wrought iron artisans contribute their talent to create the ethereal lightness that pervades Provence. Crafts and the people who perpetuate them are one of the very treasures of Provence.

Inside the house, simple elegance reflects the pleasure of browsing the antique dealers and flea markets in Isle sur la Sorgue and elsewhere.
On the beds, the cotton piqué traditional Provencal covers known as "boutis". In the kitchen, flasks of olive oil, ceramic dishes full of fresh vegetables, pots of honey and jams, a sheaf of lavender. And of course the siesta ! The time to enjoy the guest room in the hotel or B&B you have chosen – or the shady bower in the garden – or under the leafy canopy of the centuries-old plane trees. Other temptations abound – market time, splashing fountains… and other delights to discover as you wander Provence.

Buildings in Vaucluse / Charming accommodations

The expression of the South is reflected in the Provencal style. Stone is widespread and is often used as a decorative element both inside and out. Stone walls are traditionally made, often in dry stone, and line paths and trails. Where the land is sloping, stone walls known as “restanques” are built to hedge in the land. Cobblestone patios remain cool during the hot summer days. As you visit villages in Vaucluse, you may see the curious small buildings known as "bories" built from the stone recovered in clearing farmland. The Luberon Park has inventoried over a thousand bories on its territory. Provencal homes reconcile nature and art. Discover the old farmhouses which have been turned into hotels and guest rooms full of comfort and charm.
