Orange has prestigious Roman monuments that are part of UNESCO Heritage for all Humanity. See: - The Roman theatre - the best preserved Roman theatre in the entire Roman empire. Still has its entire, impressive stage wall, which Louis XIV described as the "most beautiful wall in my Kingdom”. - The monumental Triumphal Arch, with three entrances, symbol of the glory of Roman imperialism. - The town museum with its Roman land register (free entrance with the ticket into the Roman Theatre) Take the D975 through the Côtes du Rhône vineyards, to Vaison la Romaine. The city, surrounded by green hills, grew up on both sides of the river. On the right bank lies the Gallo-Roman town, home to Roman treasures. On the left bank, the medieval city with its narrow streets and shady squares.
